Unable to cover your living expenses?

According to Government and Private Sector statistics, over 7 million consumers are over indebted and require urgent Debt Counseling.

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act of 2007, and is responsible for the regulation of our credit industry. One of the tasks of the Act is a call for debt counseling. The new law requires that consumers be referred to counseling before any legal action be taken against them for non-payment of debts. This is not really happening.

All of us today are managing some debt or other.  What with the easy availability of loans and easy access to credit cards, most people find themselves buried in debt before they even realize it. The Credit Act makes provision for debt counselors to assist debt-strapped consumers who cannot meet their monthly account repayments and who want to be declared over-indebted and restructure their debt, but consumers mustn't misunderstand the purpose of debt counseling, perceiving it to be the means to escape their repayment obligations.
